How Not to Live a Reverse Life

Have you ever tried to drive forward while looking in the rearview mirror? That’s what it’s like to live a reversed life; moving yet not progressing.

In the realm of God, there is no reverse. Forward is forward. In the natural world, we may reverse to reposition ourselves, but spiritually, we are meant to keep advancing. God has called us to be faithful and fruitful, not stagnant or backward.

Faithfulness and Fruitfulness: The Standard of God

From Genesis to the Book of Job, we see a clear expectation: God wants us to be faithful and fruitful. He has invested in us, and He expects a return. But here’s the key; He only demands results from what He has already deposited in us. If God didn’t place something in you, He won’t ask for it.

So, lay your hand on your head and declare: “I will produce results!”

The results God seeks begin in the heart. Proverbs 12:25 tells us that anxiety brings depression, but a good word makes the heart glad. Jesus explains in Luke 6:45 that a good man brings forth good from the treasure of his heart, while an evil man brings forth evil. What you have settled in your heart defines your life.

The Danger of Settling on Your Own Assessment

A reversed life is one that is built on your own assessment rather than what God has established. How do you view your life, your ministry, or even the challenges before you? If your perspective is limited to what you see, hear, or feel, then you are settling for your own judgment instead of God’s truth.

God does not assess things the way we do. When Jesus declared, “It is finished”, He had not yet gone to the cross, but in eternity, the victory was already complete. Your walk with God is spiritual, not natural—it is based on His investment in you.

Jeremiah 2:26-27 warns against turning our backs on God:

“As a thief is ashamed when he is found out, so is the house of Israel ashamed… for they have turned their back to Me and not their face.”

When we reject what God has settled, we live in shame because we step outside His will. But when we align with His word, we live in confidence and victory.

The Role of Spiritual Leadership

God has not left us to navigate this journey alone. Jeremiah 3:15 declares:

“I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.”

A true shepherd leads people to settle with what God has already settled. If a leader guides you based on personal opinions instead of divine truth, then you are following the counsel of idol worshippers.

A shepherd’s role is to feed you with knowledge—to help you understand what God has established so that His word can take root in your heart. When you accept what God has concluded, answers will follow.

Practical Steps to Move Forward

If you don’t want to live a reversed life, take these steps:

  1. Settle with God’s Word – Obey His voice and align with His truth, not your personal opinion. (Jeremiah 7)
  2. Feed on the Word – Let His truth fill your heart and produce results. (Proverbs 4:20)
  3. Follow Spiritual Leadership – Listen to those who teach from God’s settled word, not human wisdom. (Jeremiah 3:15)
  4. Declare Your Forward Motion – Speak what God has said. Wake up and say, “I am moving forward because I am settled in God’s truth.”

Multiplication and Increase

God promises in Jeremiah 3:16 that when we are multiplied and increase not just in numbers, but in weight and substance, we will no longer look for the Ark of the Covenant. Why? Because we will become the embodiment of God’s presence. When people see us, they will see the result of a life built on God’s foundation.

Final Words: Settle with God’s Conclusion

As you move forward, let this be your daily confession:

“I will settle with the voice of God. Every day, I will allow His word to occupy my heart. I reject every negative voice, and I embrace the conclusion of God’s word over my life.”

No arrow of the enemy can prevail against you. No strategy of darkness can overturn God’s word. Psalm 119 declares, “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.” When you stand on His word, you stand on an unshakable foundation.

So, move forward. Keep your heart with all diligence. Refuse to live in reverse. Settle with what God has settled, and watch His results manifest in your life.

May this message bless you as you align your heart with what God has already established.
